Deb Friedson’s works of art first caught my eye at the Symmetry Gallery in Saratoga, New York. Every time I visited the town, I was drawn to the gallery by Deb’s paintings. I found them to be so beautiful and thought provoking. I wanted to do something special for myself in celebration of my retirement from teaching. I decided that a painting by Deb would be a very meaningful gift to myself. I especially liked the painting of a tree with the words “My heart is open to growth”. I thought that this would be a fitting theme as I entered a new chapter of my life. I spoke to Deb over the phone and asked if she would be willing to create this painting especially for me. Deb was very open to personalizing the painting . We corresponded via email throughout the whole process. I asked Deb to include certain words and phrases that were that were important to me. She sent me photos of the painting as the artwork progressed and asked me for feedback. It was a thrill for me to be involved with the creation of a work of art. Deb also added some of her own ideas to the painting as she learned more about me. When the painting was done, Deb met with me at a framing store to help me select an appropriate frame and mat. I was so excited to finally see my painting in person and was thrilled with the results. My painting has found its place in my home and every time I look at it, I am so touched by its beauty. It is a very special feeling knowing that I was included in the creative process. I am so thankful to Deb for her beautiful painting which has become a part my life. Deb is truly a gifted artist with a heart of gold.
